About Us

Charles City Community Schools is an Iowa school district with a PK-12 population of more than 1,500  students, serving families in Charles City, Floyd, Bassett, and Colwell.

We offer a unique #CharlesCityExperience that engages, inspires, and empowers students and staff to maximize learning. The opportunities you can find with Charles City Community Schools are attractive,  personalized, and exceed area schools.

We have two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. We are the 65th (of 359) largest school district in the State of Iowa. At our core we believe regardless of who you are or what your story is, you can learn and be loved in Charles City Community Schools.

We are a family. From the students, parents, and committed leaders of more than 220 staff we treat each other like a family. Our schools are large enough to provide unique educational opportunities, yet small enough for senior leaders, staff, parents, and students to be family.

Our students represent the whole community, and we value the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of our student body. We believe diversity is a strength and allows all Charles City Community School students to feel unique while being part of the family. Experiences with diversity prepares our students to be understanding, open-minded and ready for the workplace.

Our academic and extracurricular programming aims to ensure academic growth for all students of all abilities. More than 83% of Charles City High School students participate in some activity outside of the classroom. Students who participate in activities have higher grade-point averages, better attendance records, lower dropout rates, and fewer discipline problems than students generally.
